This is a small eye painting I did on a vintage kids book. One of those thick small "Big Little Books" - it's my wife's eye giving me "The Columbo". It's for an Eye-themed show this summer in Hamburg Germany curated by Lori Zimmer (more info later)
I am the first to roll my eyes at the people who take your souvenir photos before any tourist attraction - purposely not looking at the final awkward photos before leaving. "They won't get my money.." you proudly think marching out the doors.
But every so often you stop to look at one and you have to think twice. We agreed that when a classic one like this comes along you think to yourself
"I will be happy I bought this years from now when I find it by accident in a drawer."
When I was a kid in Massachusetts I learned to paint on Saturday Mornings from Captian Bob Cottle on his show broadcast out of Boston called "Drawing From Nature" I don't remember this particular episode but just see and hearing his thick Boston accent brought back some great memories - Thanks again Captain Bob for the inspiration, I have been feeling down lately.
I will have three large scale pieces here for the first time at the New York Scope Fair. One of them brand new that I have been working on for the last two months. I will be in attendance throughout the week. I hope to see some of your there.
